Why is a termite inspection necessary?

Inspection for termites and other wood-destroying insects is common practice in real estate transactions;

not necessarily for government compliance, but because most banks and mortgage companies require a

"clear termite report" as a condition to obtaining a home loan. In addition to banks requiring a report, many

new buyers also like to be aware that their new purchase is free of any wood destroying insects.
