Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Beside the school at the Ocean County Board of REALTORS®, are there other places to take pre-licensing classes in our area?
A: Click HERE for a list of the Real Estate Schools that are affiliate members of our association, or
you may refer to the New Jersey Real Estate Commission list of all real estate schools in New Jersey.

Q: What are the CE (Continuing Education) requirements?
A: Continuing Education, or CE, requirements require a total of 12 credits. These 12 credits are broken down into two categories; 6 credits must be "core" classes, and 6 credits must be "elective" classes, or additional core classes. At least 2 of the 6 core credits must be on ethics.

Q: What do I do if I don't get all of my CE credits in before my license expiration date?
A:
If you do not complete the credits, you will not be able to renew your license and it will expire. You will need to go through the process to renew your license, pay necessary fees, and take CE credits.

Q: How many credits do I need to renew or reactivate my license?
A:
If you are licensed as a broker, broker-salesperson, or salesperson must complete 12 credit hours of CE.

Q: How do I report my CE credits?
A:
The provider of the course will report your completed credits, but you should still retain proof of credit completion just in case.

Q: Do my CE credits transfer to different states?
A:
Credits only transfer if the course is approved by the licensing authority in other states, have also been submitted and approved for NJ CE credit, have been assigned a NJ CE course approval number by the Commission, and are in an elective topic.

Q: How do I check my CE credits?
A:
You can check your CE credits on the State of NJ Real Estate CE Tracking System from their vendor, PSI Exams by clicking HERE. You will need your license number. The website will detail how to log in.
